I’d say photographing an engagement session at Garrard Landing Park is one of the best decision made by couples in Atlanta. If you are getting married and want to find a location that has tall grass, bridge, creek, big grass areas and long pathways this is the spot for your engagement sessions!
Being a photographer I often hear couples that wanted to go to major parks near downtown Atlanta for their engagement sessions. Personally I’d say it’s too crowded unless you go on a weekday. For weekends, unless you really want the midtown Atlanta backdrop I’d suggest going to a quieter park so we don’t need to wait for people getting pass us before we take each shot all the time. More importantly, when I ask you to kiss you won’t be doing it in front of 100 people!
Below is some of the pictures I took for Ally and Dan’s engagement session at Garrard Landing Park. It was early in the morning at 10am and hardly anyone was there at the park (except for some kids with their parents on the playground).
Just like all my engagement sessions, I’ll go over the details before our shoot. Usually say we’ll do a loop around the park that takes about 1 hour. For this park particularly, we’d first go to the bridge area for some posing shots. Then, as we walk around the long pathways I’d take some candid photos and some jumping/playing around photographs. After that, we’ll go to the tall grass area for some hug/kissing shots. Towards the end of the session, I’ll get some close up shots just like the first picture you see below.
